Not a locost project but i browse here for any new ideas.
It's Alfa 156 mid-engined RWD 3.0V6.....after 2 years on stock suspension i decide to change our awful front suspension.
My question is how much front upright lenght is safe for the front suspension to survive braking and lateral forces. Now i'm using shorten stock
156's upright......and there is no heavy engine in front.
Below is a picture of my front setup, it's not finalized still, i can change inboard mounting points, can add to the upright 30-50mm extra
lenght.......now distance between upper and lower balljoints is 30cm, inboard mounting point distance is 26cm.......Land Rover Discovery Rod Ends used
for upper ball joints......
Here is my setup - http://www.racingaspirations.com/mods/zjjyguyu.
Car weights around 1050kg - will this be safe lenght enough for front upright or i must do some changes.....
Please have in mind that this is only preliminary fixings just to see how things will look like - however any piece of advice will be welcomed.
Thanks.
Any chance of a better photo of your upright?
Sorry i can't really help
Upright
I've decided to add 30mm to it's lenght anyway......
