Hi, has anyone, with a Fury (or similar), fitted an adjustable steering column?
Apart from upside down (want to use the switches etc.) is there a way of doing it other than ditching the adjuster and using the clamp from a non
adjustable column?
I've got one on mine. I wasn't using the top casting so didn't need to turn it: I'd made a custom fitting to replace it. The
casting can be removed (grub screw and knock off from memory) and should be possible to refit 180' around. I think I had to take the cam/clamp
apart and re-assemble to get the lever in a usable orientation.
As I have a paddle change mounted on the column, I also had to lock out the reach adjustment with a plate on the slider but the height adjustment
still works.

Cheers for the response and pic. Initially I had a look at what it might take to turn the casting through 180 degrees but didn't want to risk
breaking anything. I'll take another look.
OT - where did you get the handbrake surround + gaitor from?

The handbrake surround was probably (it was a while ago) from EuropaSpares. Not sure if the gaiter was from the same place; Probably there or CBS. The
handle was from a local motor factors.
Hi, I have - not been IVA'd yet, but have a look at my pictures.
I did not touch the casting at all.
I have a possible safety issue though, if you look at the third picture,
you can see the casting may catch on the chassis rail
in the event of an accident !!!
I have 'temporarily' disabled the Up/Down function....

Adithorpe - Had a look at the option of rotating the casting 180 degrees and it looks like it would need a new slot cut in the column tube on the
oposite side. You can see the triangular slot in your first pic. Thanks for the OT info.

How did you disable the up/down adjustment?
Would have thought the casting catching on the chassis rail would also be a problem even with the column upside down. Can it not be ground back to
increase the gap?

Please find attached an image of the 'stop' that prevents the column from adjusting up and down.

Where the column is at the moment, the casting will clear the chassis rail.
I have fitted an immobiliser so removing the ignition switch later will not be a security problem.
I am just being over cautious for Mr IVA. I know the manual seems to say I will be OK, but ....
I have also attached an extra picture of the install. Still requires proper bolts and nuts etc.

P.S. I have also had to shorten the lever as was a bit too long when the body shell was fitted.

Many thanks for the photos - looks very good and I like the limiter mechanism.
If the column 'lift spring' was removed and the limiter used would it only require increasing the size of the slot in the vertical part of
the mount (to allow the column to move up and down) - do you see what I mean?

Hi Pete, your assumption is correct.
With the stop in place and the column at its 'higher' levels,
the mechanism will clear the lower edge of the mounting bracket.
I hope you mean 'extend' instead of 'up and down'

Thanks I think I'll look at that. One other option I'm considering is to get a local welder to remove the adjust collar from the column and
re-weld it 180 degrees rotated and then mount the column as Adithorp has.
