think i have escort or cortina front and bent my track rod arm (pebble)
Can it be bent straight?
If not where best to get these.
Thanks all
Probably be able to pick a new one up from Rally spares etc personally I wouldn't straighten it as it will possibly be weakened

Cortina had a pressed wishbone of sorts so should be Escort
Don't straighten a cast item, the damage has been done, straighten it and you just pull the stress fractures apart.
Personally, I'd straighten it. It can't be too badly bent if it was caused by a pebble and I doubt that bending it back would weaken it
to the point of it being unsafe. Just my personal opinion though, I am no metallurgist and have no idea how badly bent it is.......
Phil
We're getting a bit confused here, is it a track rod or a track control arm. If it's a track rod I've straightened them in the vice with no ill effects and if it's a track control arm how big was the bl**dy pebble ?
I think I have an old Cortina rack somewhere in my garage. You're welcome to it... if I can find it!!!
I'll get back to you later today.
Yup - still there and still has the rod arms attached!
If the Escort/Cortina rack is anything like the Sierra rack below, surely it can only be the tie rods that have bent?
Phil
Sierra Rack

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Scootz I sent you a u2U
It's the tie rod ends and yes it was slightly more than a pebble. I was just doing the play it down thing.
Cheers again
Replied.
