Hi All
Please can someone confirm that the bit in the pic is a suitable (IVA) crushable section?
Many thanks
Leon
Hopefully the image works!
You need to upload the picture to the internet as we cant see whats on your hardrive!
use the photo archive http://locostbuilders.co.uk/photos.php
then just paste the link that starts [pg]...

Description
Yes. Many sierra columns like that have passed. Also this section is "pre-crushed" it gets elongated as the column collapses..

Its the triangular section of yours that will 'collapse'

That is an adjustable column, the shock absorber bellows section is after the bracket and expands on impact whereas the fixed column has the bellows before the bracket and it compresses on impact working in conjunction with the triangular section which extends into the main column as it collapses so that it does not buckle and push back into the cockpit.
Now that Pete, is what's known in the trade as a complete answer! Should be a sticky I reckon, seen the question regarding crushable columns so many times.
pull the lower triangular section hard...
be amazed as it becomes not only 2 pieces ..
but telescopic .. known as colapsable!!
jon
Just learned that the bellows expand too excelent!!
