Hey all.

i have a escotr rack but a vauxhall column.

i have got the full column for a vauxhall astra which ends with a 12mm cube shape hole to fit on vauxhall rack.

i notice the sierra has a splined Tube about 12mm i think.

how can i get these to meet???

spline to Box metal ideas pleeease.

I used a rubber coupling from the vauxhall.
Grind the rivets off, and join them together using m8 boolts. Weld the metal halfs together.
With the other end grind the required spline so it its in the square section, tighten and weld.

I have Mk2 Escort rack and Mk2 (1985 Opel Kadett-Astra) Column

From rack goes on to a lower column coupling from a Cortina (Splined one end and then V shaped coupling at the other with a flat plate across that with two bolts holding it on.

Dad then turned a hexagonal bar so the hexagonal end sits in the V then is clamped down with the plate the other end is welded into a metal tube.

At the Column end the bottom flexi coupling from the astra was kept which has a splined end that went onto the rack. The car was canabalised so we could cut the rack in situ so get the splined bit (which is a collar with a roll pin through it on to the rack) A bar was turned to fit inside this colar and then drilled to allow the roll pin to fit through. Other end again turned to fit inside the tube then welded on.
