Modifying rear uprights
Johneturbo - 10/10/09 at 02:56 PM

Carrying on from my other thread about bolt on shafts with my uprights

they are just not wide enough so was thinking if they were cut down, then have a box section to replace what i cut away.
kinda like a flared wheel arch on a car

here a pic of what needs cutting away.
do you think it would it work and of course be safe.

also anyone localish that is good with a welder that can weld the box section up for me, for a fee of course

If I was doing that I would replace the part taken out with a section of tube, so that the strength is retained. If you understand what I mean, something like a half moon shape with the end welded shut. HTH Ray

Austin man yes that't right

Chippy, i know exactly what you mean, looks like it only needs to flare out by about 10mm so that should work out fine

just need to find a good welder
