Having moved house and come back to work i felt eager to catch up with everything. scanning ebay for 'bargains' i stumbled across a t5 box,
which i promptly bought.
my concern now is will it fit my book tranny tunnel?!
answers on a postcard please..

ned
open tool box
look for square thing with tape in with markings on
pull out said tape and
read off markings a set points along the t5 box
relate these to a set position on the t9 box
and see if your tunnel on your chassis fits
if you want i'll measure min up tonite for you
btw the t9 to vx bellhousing wont fit a t5 box.

timf,
was only asking as haven't picked the box up yet.
i know the vx to type 9 bellhousing won't fit, but recon i can use it with an adapter plate.
correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the t5 uses the same length inputshaft as the v6 type9. i have the shorter of the two length bellhousing
for the vx which i recon leaves me 20mm to make a plate up to mate the two together. the bellhousing should be strong enough as its a magnesium alloy
i believe.
The box will be stronger than the type 9 so won't have to put a gear kit on the type 9 when it blows up running the vx 16v @200bhp+, could even
run the let (turbo) vx engine on it to.
Comments welcomed...

col,
the standard vx 2ltr 16v runs 155bhp. twin 45's can achieve 175bhp. a pair of cams, vernier pulleys and heavy duty rod bolts and 200bhp is quite
easy on a stndard engine. it'll rev safely to 7500rpm on arp rod bolts. much more power/revs and it gets more expensive ie forged pistons, rods,
double springs, followers etc etc
i know of these engine's making 280-300bhp with a fat enough wallet.
then theres the turbo one which is 205bhp as standard i think.

t5
A=19.5"
B=7.2"
C=14.5"
D=24.7
width across main housing
7.9"
oh one other thing the 1st motion shaft retainer cannot be removed for mounting of a hudrallic clutch as it actually retains the shaft.
Thanks for the measurements tim.
