Has anyone got any pics of inboard discs/brakes mounted to a chain diff, I'm particularly interested in caliper mounts in relation to tensioning the chain etc..ie of you move the axle back slightly to tension the chain how do the calipers mount so that they move as well?? all help greatly appreciated
Hi,
A friend of mine builds trikes and he mounts the disk the opposite side of the diff to the sprocket and the disk mounts on a cradle attached to the
frame. The complete frame is moveable so that the chain can be adjusted by moving the frame, With the disk and caliper being so mounted causes no
problems atall. I think he has pics on the bay.
Regards
Bob
Although this mod reduces sprung weight on your wheels, you need to think about strain on your driveshafts and brake cooling before you go this
route.
I'm not poo-pooing the idea just highlighting a couple of things to consider.
Here is one of mine with the calipers mounted off the support frame.
