Pedal cable clamp... Things.

Getting ready to fit pedals in the nearish future, brakes are already sorted with clevis etc.

But for the cable-y pedals, I'm thinking along the lines of:

Cable Idea
Cable Idea

But shorter on the end the bolt goes in, for the sake of compactness.

Reckon it'd work?

it would work but ready made cables come with a loop for the pedal end, just slip the bolt through.

Difference being that I can't get ready made cables for free out of the shed.

That looks like a cable guillotine to me!

hmm, good point. I'll have a play with a spare cable and see if I've invented a new tool

The easiest thing to use is the metal bit inside a chocolate block type DIY wire connector. Take out the screws, slide the metal bit out of the plastic bit and bingo. One either side of the pedal....

Lightweight and cheap....

Just had a good play using cycle gear wire.

even just done up finger tight, it'll support my weight (19st-ish) pulling on it.

Also, it doesn't seem to damage the cable significantly when tightened all the way down, no broken strands, even after bending back and forth for a while.

Take a bolt, drill across it (2mm hole should be enough), then use two penny washers and two halfnuts to sandwich the cable threaded though the hole.

Works brilliantly and doesn't cut the cable.
