boss side
Wheel
please can you help identify the following wheel so I can buy the correct collapsable boss, then I could also do with some links to companies that
sell afore mentioned boss
Also can anyone give me any pointers on how you would secure handbrake cable to actuation lever on back of drum?
handbrake cabel
I'm thinking thin bolt, but is there a proper connector I should be using?
Thanks!
Going by the size of the bolt spacing it looks like a mountney traditional.
Im not sure if they actually make collapsable bosses for this type.
Not sure of the steering wheel, but I have a spare one exactly the same on my shelf! It came in a Moutney box, but I do have other Mountney wheels
kicking around.
I have used M4 bolts to connect the cable to the arm. Not on the road yet, but no sign of bending.
i'd agree with mountney too.
how many UJs are in your steering system?
I used bolts and nyloc nuts on my handbrake cables - FAILED SVA
He said bolts are not designed for the sideways loading. You need to fit Clevis pins with split pins.
The cable should be connected with a Clevis Pin, secured in place with a split pin. Ask your local motor factors. they should have a selection box.

Same wheel as mine too - a Mountney. Just checked mine for markings but not a thing on it! Same wheel though.
A Mountney wheel, unfortunately the bosses are of terrible quality, but why not make your own?

anyone know where i can get a collapsable boss?
i thought the 2 UJs covered everything needed ? as long as there's a decent angle between them?

have to say, i never read that from the manual. or is that an IVA thing?
It looks like an old-style Mountney wheel. Collapsible bosses don't fit. I solved the same problem in a hicost way by buying a current collapsible boss and a solid distance piece, both from Europa and drilled the distance piece to suit the different pcd of the wheel and held it all together with csk socket screws.
You can get collapsible bosses for Mountney wheels. They're made by Astrali. Picked mine up from an autojumble for a fiver.
