VIN plates for BECs vs CEC's

As above, are they different? Does the BEC need to use thinner steel on the VIN plate to keep the weight down and prevent clutch burn out? Do you have to weld the plate into the front of the chassis or can it be positioned at the back to aid weight distribution?

Is it the Starship Enterprise? Probs best to use some stamps and a bit of plate oif you ask me. I dont think DVLA will be impressed if you take up the full car park with a hovering device when you go for the inspection. Come on guys - keep it sensible please. Im asking a genuine question here.

It wasn't meant as an insult. It was just that the thread was, IMHO, a little "Whippyesque" based on its slightly surreal nature.

We found a 'Dormy' bullet tipped permanent marker to be the lightest option for marking the VIN on the chassis rail.

It's also best to keep the length of your alpha-numerics as short as possible. For example: The number 1 is shorter in overall length than the number 8, so try and incorporate as many 1's as possible without replicating an existing VIN.
