racetech centre mirror

I have fitted a 'Westfield' type bubble aeroscreen (as in pic below) and am looking for a suitable tall centre mirror.
I have been considering the racetech type but understand that it is available with either flat or convex glass.
Which is better for SVA purposes and aside from the edges of mirror needing trim to give correct radius, are there any other issues I need to be aware of with this mirror?

I have a convex Racetech centre mirror, and it gives a good clear rear view, really impressed for the size of the unit.

I had this on for the SVA and there was no comment made on the edges etc, the only thing i did was stretched a fairly large o-ring around it and left it at that.

Flew through the test, even the tester commented on the good rear view, unless he was talking about the blonde receptionist!!

I used a racetech convex mirror for my sva with no problems (i did use u-trim for the edges). The rear view with this mirror is pretty good.

If you are fitting wing mirrors aswell then I would think that you could get away with the flat centre mirror if you wanted.

I have the small flat racetech centre mirror and it is perfectly good enough - I have even mounted mine through the aeroscreen to the scuttle!

Steve

ps - nice looking avon!!!

I've got an SVA friendly one you can have with a sucker on the bottom of it ???

After SVA, fork out and buy a SPA one - they're awesome - soooo much better than the Racetech one.

Will be a Donnington Saturday morning (weather dependant) if you want a nosey.

Andy, I had the convex one. You could see much more. The front of the avon is lower than most, with a plain mirror you just see your shoulder. Mine was a racetech.
Car looks great. Are you putting on the wider front wishbones at the front? Should be able to get hold of our jig if you wish to borrow it.

sorry to disrupt the thread, is there any reason as to why you should leave the aeroscreen off for the sva? what would it fail on?
Reason i ask is that i just bought a carbonmods dash and aeroscreen and wanted the dash to meet up with the aeroscreen as its a bubble type like he westy one.

That's exactly what I have done - i.e. extended my carbon dash up to meet the profile of the aeroscreen (as in Pic below.) Therefore I cannot remove the screen for sva. I have added trim to the sharp edge of the screen and also fitted 'tadpole' trim between the screen and scuttle so I shouldn't have probs with regard to SVA?
Thanks for all the positive comments, guys. Must admit I'm pretty chuffed with the paint job as its my first attempt at spraying and it was done in my garage using the 'Aldi' special offer compressor and spray gun!
Looks like I'll get the racetech mirror then. (Is it the same as the one MNR lists on its website for £15? If so, seems a good price!)

Yep - the MNR one looks exactly like the Racetech one!
