SVA applied for...Gulp!

Hi fellow Petrol heads,
I haven't been here for a while. I'm afraid the car has had to take a bit of a back seat.
I've been on the road with the band. Been to Poland to record with one of their finest orchestras, more about that another time though.
Any way upon my return I've taken the plunge and applied for the SVA. I Haven't got a date yet.
Here are the obligatory pre SVA pics for your perusal. If you see anything obvious then do let me know. As you will see the screens have fallen off in the later pictures! Rescued attachment DSCF0001.JPG

I'm sure the pipe lagging will fail. It needs to be covered in cloth/leather/vinyl and well attached to be considered permentent.

I "tried it on" on my first SVA. They told me right away I'd fail on that and I saw their point as by the end of the test the lagging was already showing wear from all the getting in and out.

That looks distinctly like an EX - BT Plant Trailer. If So... I bet you are probably overweight for the towng cars limit.

Those trailers weigh close to a ton, + 1/2 ton for the car. Check the total weight as you could be nicked for it. ie what's the Max Braked trailer towing limit in your hand book?, and how much does the trailer and locost weigh?.

If you passed your car driving test after January 1997, you may now need to pass a separate test (licence category B + E) to tow a trailer or caravan weighing over 750kg M.A.M. (Maximum Authorised Mass).

Just my 2d's worth.

Car looks good. Shouldnt take long to get a a date for the SVA.
Good Luck with the SVA.

It's proper vinyl type steam pipe lagging on the exhaust and the pipe lagging on the cockpit sides is glued on and covered in vinyl. The pipe lagging on the bottom of the dash is glued on and is a type of foam rubber which is not covered.
Cheers
Jon

No idea about the trailer, I just borrowed it once. I passed my test in 1979!
Thanks for the compliments about the car.

I agreee with the pipe lagging comment. I was told I could not use it as it was not what a mainstream manufacturer would use.

Edges of top seatbelt clips look contactable to me and probably need rubber edging if less than 2.5mm rad.

Are front indicators far enough out. Look more than 400 from the outside if the tyres are 195 ish.

All I could see though. Front suspension looks well covered.

Nice work. The top hose from the thermostat to the radiator looks like it could foul on the exhaust and the fan belt. The brake hose to the front caliper looks a bit floppy hangy and might need tied up. Other than that it looks good.

Nice work, the car looks great.

Can't quite tell if your seat harness triangular fixing brackets are either radiused or have rubber trim round.

Mine were straight edged so I had to glue rubber trim to effect the appropriate radius.

All the best with the SVA

Dave.
