Probably not... you need 2.5mm radii all over it unless it is padded.

Best put the Sierra wheel back on as it gives you a larger wheel zone on dashboard and is well SVA compliant... you can always change it back easy enough.

We kept the Sierra one on for the SVA test and changed it to the Mountney soon after passing (well as soon as we got it home really)

I had to seriously cover mine,in hindsight i would have stuck with the sierra wheel which would have probably saved me having to bodge/make the rubber vinyl dash cover too. Rescued attachment MK Indy build pics 166.jpg

I did the same as Bob

But I was told I need not have bothered.
Twas suprised at that. I agree with Hellfire the radii are not sufficient.

Probably depends on the tester.

Watch that you can get you hands around the wheel though and that your knees are not in the way if you use the Sierra one as Barrie failed on that.

I think that one is an exeter specific thing?

I remember speaking to someone who had simply used a dremel type tool to radius the metal spokes in steering wheel and he passed with the wheel unpadded.

Mine passed SVA in Glasgow with Mountney wheel fitted, no extra padding nor fettling. I thought it was holes in the spokes they didn't like..

In the Europa catalogue they advertise an SVA compliant wheel in a number of different diameters.

Or you could borrow my lucky Mountney steering wheel pad, same as the one in the picture. Been used to pass 4 SVAs now so must be lucky! I can post it off if you want to let me have your address, post it back when done.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

My plan for SVA is to take my dremmel to the wheel and radius the edges as best I can since I think this will improve the wheel anyway. I'm not planning on using the area behind my dash anyway so no benefit in the increased coverage of the Sierra wheel.

My question is whether the pozidrive screws which secure the wheel to the boss are likely to cause a problem for SVA? I could fill them with body filller and paint them if necessary.

I'll be taking my Sierra wheel to SVA as a backup of course...

Cheers,
Craig.
