Water Rail & Exhaust
I ave done a DIY water rail setup on my Zetec to get me through the IVA re-test shortly!
One concern is that the pipe and hose come in quite close contact with the exhaust manifold. I have wrapped the hose in exhaust wrap, so that it is
flame proof and heat proof etc.
I don't have a clue how to add photos into a post, but a pic is available in my photo archive.
Am I asking for trouble with this? I have run the car up several times with no issues etc, but don't want to have more probs come IVA re-test
otherwise its another full fee job if I have to go back!
Options are for a raceline water rail if not! £300!!!
Thanks
Matt

I have e-mailed DVSA now, so see if I get a response! I could also wrap the header tube running beneath the hose too which would further reduce the
heat etc.

Retest is £90 ain't it?
I used a heat resistant hose for mine attached to the chassis which was fine for test. No pics sorry.
Also rails are pretty cheap now I got this for under 200 on offer now 240

Can you not just fit a shaped ally heat deflector plate inbetween the exhaust manifold and water pipe? Maybe clamp it onto the water pipe so it does
not touch the exhaust.
With clamp like this......

Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

Couldn’t you get a longer elbow joint pipe so it gives you a bit more clearance

I think copy BW idea of an extra silicone elbow would be sensible and cost a tenner...... The manifolds can get pretty warm.

re-test is £90, but I oonly have up to 4th Jan to get it through, and the latest they could do for a re-test is 6th Dec!!
No room for a heat deflector!
Cant use the retro-ford rail as my dip stick comes up the point where it bolts onto the head. Had enough issues trying to get a dip stick for it
already! So the raceline rail would be the only way forward.
The angle on the elbow is the issue with the height, but it will still be very close.

Can't you use two elbows? one to go up to get the height then one going across like my early revision:

Deja Vu...
I´m pretty sure I´ve answered this before...
Check for Stratoflex Fire resistant Hose Sleeving.
ETA:
I Did answered on a similar thread, but when I search for Stratoflex, only the old thread appears.
The search function does not select this one..
Linky to the other thread.
