DVLA - Kit Conversion - Heads up
Finally tracked my application down with the DVLA and they are requesting more documentation.
They are telling me that when you complete the V627/1, for any parts listed as new you must supply a receipt/invoice that states the parts are NEW AND
UNUSED. If this is not stated then you need a letter from the manufacturer declaring that the parts are NEW AND UNUSED. People starting their builds
may want to consider this when buying parts.
The second thing they have asked me for is photos showing the front, back and sides of the car.
If anyone is applying soon it would be worth including these docs/photos to try and speed through the process as otherwise you will spend ages ringing
call centres, waiting for letters etc etc!

If it helps at all, i have just gone through the process for a Q plate.
I sent off the V55/5 and the V627/1.
I included a receipt for the chassis kit, a receipt for the engine, trans, axles etc and that's about it.
I didn't send any photos.
DVLA were happy with this and gave me a Q plate, so sounds a bit easier if you've used old crappy parts like i did without a donor reg

I sent the DVLA a box of receipts and photos of the finished car and various build stages. Never had any problems. I thought it was standard
practise? I went for an age related plate.

Sounds like they are tightening up on New Reg applications, no bad thing IMHO
We want credibility in our market and things like ringing using Duttons and false reciepts can only damage
What it will do is disappoint those who have not been as diligent with paperwork and cause more expense for those that have.
Let's not forget, all you say and do on the Internet can be read by anyone

Having to supply reciepts isn't new... Them working out some of the reciepts might not be genuine or that a Dutton can't look like an MK
(especially when the dodges get posted on the internet) and tightening up as a result isn't a suprise.
Previously the local office staff didn't deal with that many kits before moving on to a different desk and often didn't fully understand
the rules. This worked both ways for us as a result; Sometimes it made life difficult and sometimes you could get away stuff. Now it's all being
dealt with at Swansea, whoever deals with kit registration will see a lot more applications and be more familiar with the rules. All in all that can
only make life easier for us in the long term... even if you wouln't get away with bending the rules anymore.

That's pretty normal that they want receipts and photos. You only need to prove parts are new if you want a new plate, for age related and q
it makes sod all difference as you have already declared you are using second hand parts.
Anything With Tits or Wheels Will cost you MONEY!!

Receipts/invoices were suplied for the new parts as declared on the V627/1, i.e. chassis and bodywork but they want it in writing from the
manufacturer that they are NEW and UNUSED. This is for an age related (kit conversion) plate so the proof of new parts is not only required for new
registrations but also for any new major components for an age related plate appication.
It's just frustrating that if there is a clear list of requirements - why do the DVLA not publish for all to see. I actually have an email from
them stating the documents required and photos are not listed, receipts are but nothing relating to the 'new and unused' statement.

Ask them why? regardless of if they are old or new it can't make a difference to an age related plate! It's either all new with one major
reconditioned part for a new plate. A mix of old and new for age related with enough evidence to prove enough old parts come off one vehicle! The new
parts are irrelevant as your not trying to prove it's new your trying to prove enough of it is old/recycled! Then there is q for everything
else.
If you have too many new parts and not enough old for an age related then you get a q plate so be carefull of that one on the form.
I have registered plenty of kit cars been there do e it got the t shirt!
What's the person's name at the dvla sounds like they need educating
