Will this pass?

Got my SVA on monday and I'm a bit concerned that my exhaust mounting bracket might cause problems - has anyone got any idea whether the edges marked below will pass or fail?

If they are likely to fail, how can I cover them up?

Cheers

I suspect that it will fail, unfortunately.

Perhaps you can form some aluminium around it to present some nice gentle curves.

Thanks for the responses guys, I suspected it would fail but couldn't figure out how to cover it up, wrapping some ally around it sounds like a really good idea!

Do I need to cover the nuts underneath the exhaust mount or will these be exempt because they are underneath facing the floor? I might cover them up anyway just to be on the safe side, we all know how these things have a tendency to mysteriously fall off after SVA...

Yeah, cover them.
I nut a plastic nut cover on an exposed nut on my exhaust for SVA, and during the speedo test it melted and fell off!
SVA inspector laughed when he saw me pick up a stringy plastic mess off the floor! Most of them are human and understand what is practical and what isn't, don't worry about it too much. Just try and cover every sharp edge that you can, make it look like you have made every effort possible. First impressions seem to count.

Good luck.

If the bracket goes all the way under and the clamp isn't actually holding the exhaust together, just take the saddle part off and smooth the threads. Round the ends of the bracket off as well.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Right, made myself an ally strip to cover up all the sharp bits of the exhaust mount. I used a length of ally, rolled the edges over to give nice smooth SVA-compliant sides and bolted it down top an bottom.

It's pretty rigid and will hopefully keep the SVA inspector happy tomorrow!

I wish you'd told me that yesterday Chris! Could've saved me the hassle of a retest!
