Done it!

Well its only taken about 9 years; but this morning the postman dropped a nice letter and tax disc through the mail box.

The car is now registered and road legal.

Well chuffed. Can't wait to get in for free at Stoneleigh! At long last!

I should add a well done to the DVLA.

I posted a question in November regarding the sanity of trying to register the car using one office (Bristol) and inspection by another (Northampton) - It's a long story!

Concensus was I was mad to contemplate it. Ever up for a challenge I thought I'd give it a go. Well. It worked without a hitch.

Well done - interestingly I note you still have the side repeaters on the scuttle sides - I take it there were no issues regarding their visibility past tghe rear arches then (this has come up a few times recently)

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

No problem at all with the side repeaters.

Only issue was the height of the fronts. OK at home but suspension settled on way to test - Fail

Took 3 goes at SVA - second time round was being very picky but test 3 only took about 10mins.

Over all the build took just short of 9 years. That included 2 house moves, 2 children, 3 jobs and various illnesses including my co-builder (Dad) nearly dieing. So, as they say it's been a "Journey"

Now thinking on what can be improved - including changing the colour of the front wings, it was only temporary anyway but there have been far too many Noddy comments.

Only 9 years? Pah, quick build! But seriously well done nice looking car .

My car was always going to be red with yellow wheels as its a good combination but curse that stupid gnome it is a tad Noddy.

I finalised my colour scheme at the last minute leaving the Black Gel (second hand) wings un-painted which is very practical and looks good (IMHO)

You more than anybody here will relish that first sign of a fine day , roll on spring
