Battery isolator switch siting
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if it is sva friendly to put a battery isolator switch on top of the transmission tunnel under the dash.
The one I'm thinking of using is the red lever type, about 60mm high including the key(red lever)

I added mine to the dash in the exempt bit on the right of the steering wheel.
Passed ok.

There you go. As you can see its outta the way. I have a cover over it to keep the rain out (if I ever get caught out!).

may be wrong but thought you shouldn't be able to operate any anti theft device whilst driving the car (driver or passenger ? )

I guess this regulation is down to interpretation / mood of examiner on the day :
The regulation states that:
The vehicle must be fitted with an anti-theft device.
This must take the form of an independent means of preventing the engine from being
started. It may be mechanical, electronic or electrical or a system involving any
combination of these.
It must be impossible to operate once the engine is running.
It must not interfere with the normal system of switching off the engine.
A proprietary engine immobiliser system properly fitted will comply with the
requirements of the test. A battery cut off device with a removable key, which is
fitted to the main feed, should also comply, but this should be positioned where it
could not be accidentally operated when the car is being driven.
Mechanical anti-theft devices operating on the accelerator, steering and braking
systems are not acceptable.
