SVA on Monday

SVA is on Monday, so have been busy all week making sure that she's SVA friendly (hopefully!)...
There's a number of pics in my photo archive under 'pre-SVA' and I'll post a few below. Feel free to comment etc. Rescued attachment sva3 008.JPG

is your fog light vertical? looks slightly slanted backwards in the photo, but it might just be the camera angle

apart from that it looks spot on

what does the leaver with the red button do?

I've packed a piece of o-ring between foglamp lense and mount to force the lamp into a vertical position compared to the mount (hopefully!) You can just see it in photo at top of lense. With the lense being curved, how does the tester ascertain if its perfectly vertical? or is it just a visual check?
The red button is my ejector seat!
Naw, it's really my electric reverse.

Must admit lovely car, looks like you've covered all the bases, fog lamp concerns me though, measured mine with a set square. just one suggestion put a nut cover on the bottom ball joint ,I think it would really finish off the front,
good luck

radio controlled car tyres are the best method I've seen used for the bottom and top of the shocks more permanent

Mine leans back further than that my tester said nothing, just stood back at a certain distance and told me to turn the lights on, then fog light, etc....

Hi there
Your car is looking very nice indeed, I guess it kawasaki green!!
Good luck with the test on monday, if your are goin to Exeter for yours then Byron is a very helpful, nice bloke, he is very down to earth and he did let me do a few tweaks whilst doin the sva (fitting a couple of washers/fuel cap rubber) but had a first time pass
cheers Colin

Thanks for all the positive comments, guys.
Think I'll take a chance on the fog light being deemed vertical or not (after all, the chances of passing first time are pretty slim, I should think.)
I reckon I'll probably have issues with the lack of self-centreing and possibly noise (although its an R1 can under the heat shield, the induction noise from the sausage filter seems very loud!)
Hector, were you allowed to align the headlamps at Exeter - or did you do them previously?

Andy.

Hi andy, I did set them up roughly on the garage door but he did allow adjustment on the day no problem!
I even locked off my bias bar with full adjustment to the front brakes and then set the rear so that both master cylinder arms were parallel to each other, and they were perfectly set up for all the brake tests-that even surprised the examiner!!
cheers colin

Good luck for tomorrow, Andrew!
That's a fine looking car you've built.
Make sure your speedo is OK - I've still got grief with mine.
Byron's very good and fair.
The shroud around your upper wishbone/ball-joint looks a bit 'temporary'. I did very similar (a piece of wheelbarrow inner tube ty-rapped) and he asked me to remove it. The bare nut was considered to be OK.
Headlamps - he lets you tweak them so no problem.
Fog light does look a few degrees off vertical...?
All the best, John.

John and Omega
Thanks for kind comments,
I'm using a Sigma bike computer for my speedo so am taking along its instructions in case I have to re-callibrate it during test.
Omega, ditto,- good luck for Wednesday.
