Dont think we'll truely know till they start doing it. Lot of speculation about IVA... like the SVA when that first came out. Just glad i got mine in in time for SVA

Does that mean that there's going to be twice as much on the test to warrent 8hrs? or does that include there breaks.

Was/is the SVA 4hrs? I thought it was only about an hour.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Depends on the complexity of your vehicle, but it's usually 3-4 hours.

What on earth are they going to check on a 7 type car that would take 8 hours ?

Sounds like justification of the cost to me.

I think the bottom line is that they want to try and put people off building cars in there garage.
Personally if i built a car from scratch i wouldnt mind having it SVA'd or IVA'D,these cars are getting faster and faster and i would rather it be spot on and checked over.
You have to remember that there are some complete plonkers out there who would bodge anything and i wouldnt want to buy/drive a car with a quick engine in with out some assurance at least.

I thought 4 hours standing in a noisey SVA centre with lorries roaring in and out all day was bad enough... 8 hours is just plain ridiculous

Pull the other one!

With the things we've seen that are to be added for IVA- ie. not very much- how can it possibly be going to take 8 hours?

I *think* mine was about 3hrs. That included time tweaking the carb. I really cannot conceive what could be done that would spend another 5 hours.

Who on earth told you this? Are they in any position to know the facts?

Where did you go for yours, Ben, with all the noisy trucks? At Mitcham, it was so quiet and sunny that my girlfriend fell asleep on the grass next to the test station!

Sunny day, quiet SVA station
