Roll hoops V cage SVA help
Hi all, having started to work on the top seat belt anchorage today I'd thought I'll have a read of the manual.
My build is a all tube chassis with 25mm with two main roll hoops of 34mm * 3mm thick fine I thought until I read in the manual steel chassis with
anchorage on roll cage which states the roll cage should ideally be manufactured of CDS 45mm x 2.5 or 50mm x 2mm wall!!???
My question .... are my roll hoops considered a roll cage as I will need to replace with larger dia CDS!

The sizes you quote are to meet MSA/RSA spec roll cages, for SVA what you have should be fine.

Hi Mark, I've never checked the manual before for roll cage spec but it does state the 45 and 50mm diameter.
Iam hoping that because they are roll hoops welded to about 40 different point to my chassis and not a full cage the bolts on I;ll be ok its a lot of
work if Iam not!!!.

I would like to think they'd be okay as they are in integrated part of the chassis structure and not a bolt on item or welding on top of.
The "ideally" in the manual does help at all if a roll cage need to be of a certain spec then print it.

As there is no requirement for a roll cage in SVA its academic anyway.
The rules are around height and bolt type/bolt fixing.
Building to MSA/RAC spec means that you can enter timed events or race with the car. If you only want to drive on the road/track days and you are
happy with the construction you are fine.

Looks a very interesting car.
- Is there going to be any for/aft bracing on the forward hoop?

Lets hope the "ideally 45 or 50mm" as stated in the manual does'nt mean has to be...
As far as bracing for the front hoop did'nt plan on any, however could run a tube from top of front to top of rear..

The F1-2 passed like this, but my seat is narrower and more braces than in your picture:
