Fuel lines
StevenB - 13/10/08 at 11:32 AM

Hi,

Is it ok to run the fuels lines with the
P clips rivetted to the ali floor pan
and not the chassis?

And

Is there an accepted position for where
the copper / rubber junction should be
on the front bulkhead?
Side etc?

Flow and return needed for Zetec on TBs.

Thanks

S

Provided the floor is not going to flex too much then you could happily rivet the hose to the floor.... I would rather have it on the chassis though....Far more secure....(its a mental thing)..

As for flexi/solid joint... I dont think it matters where it is, just make sure that, if the joint fails the fuel wont be pumped onto anything hot/electrical

I wouldn't.....
The ali floor will flex.
Copper gets brittle pretty quickly if it's flexed (I'm assuming you're going for copper fuel lines here)....

If close to the edge of the floor where it's riveted to the chassis then it won't really flex and should be ok (IMO, SVA testers may choose not to agree).

However it implies the lines are the lowest point on the car. Having grounded a car (hired sierra estate no load in back, big speed bump, unwise velocity over said bump) and crimped the fuel line running under it I'd avoid it - especially if you are planning to run low to the ground. Is there no room in the tunnel?

I did actually mean inside the tunnel. Sorry for not being clear.

It just means I dont have to bend around tunnel box section uprights etc.
