fog and reversing lights

Anyone tell me if it is sva ok to mount the fog and reversing lights on the panel around the tank (the panel that the guards bolt on) Any measurements would be great. My can is a MK. any photos would also be welcome. David

Tks. simon, I will be using two rev. Lights&two fog lights as I got them for a present. do you know the heights or the min.distance frtom ground level. David

my fog light passed and its about 7 inches from the ground. (or one inch above the bottom of the middle panel).

Remember to keep the fog light dead vertical when fitting.

You sure you want two fogs and a reverse? Just my opinion (which is normally worthless!) but one of each would look more "balanced".

IIRC there isn't a min/max requirement for the reversing lights, so if I can find something appropiate, I'll mount them in the roll bar, so rear panel doesn't look too cluttered.

Having just been thru SVA bI would recommend just having the 1 fog light for the test. then bring it home and fit the others.
Fitting only the mandatory lights limits the areas of failure as they can trip you up with the most mundane of things. - Alan

Remember the light must not be above 1 metre from the ground so it would have to be a very low rollbar! - Alan

Like I said, for the reversing lights, I don't think there is a height requirement.

If I'm wrong, I'll put them on the upright parts of bar, or let the tyres down

from memory, the fog must be at least 250mm from the ground, in the centre or offside (not off centre to passenger side) and be at least 100mm from a brake light.

the 100mm is strange cos i am sure I have seen production cars not follow this rule

I am sure the 100mm rule only applies if the foglamp is a separate unit ie not a combination lamp as most cars seem to have these days

The 100mm rule is actually in the construction and use regulations and applies to all rear lights.
However as noted, production cars get away with murder in a lot of these areas.

Remember many years ago when fog lights were accessories and people put them in the rear screen as high level brake lights? It is considered normal these days, yet as far as I know the Const' and Use Regs haven't changed.
