After 3 years (ish) & not £250 pounds, i think i have finished, and have a date for next Friday!!!

I dont see a heat shield on the exhaust ?

I'm not sure the leading edge of the exhaust can would pass. I didn't have a heat shield for my indy sva and it passed fine, though it was an MK can and well radiused

Rear seat belt mountings ? I think people have had to cover them in some way.

I assume you have a fog light, brake lights and indicators ?

Heat sheild on the exhaust is not an SVA requirement......Strange but True.

Believe it or not..... that Pipercross air filter my be a fail!!

My car failed SVA first time with one of those fitted. I had chosen it because it was foam covered but it's got a stiffening arch made of heavy duty mesh under the foam to keep it in shape. Mr SVA didn't like it because the foam is very squishy and didn't really protect the sharp edge of the support. For test no. 2 I replaced the Pipercross mesh with thin chicken wire mesh formed to fit the comlete inside area of the dome. Passed OK.

That was at Shrewsbury SVA centre, by the way.

Exhaust clamp OK if he can't get sphere to it otherwise it will fail. he also failed the stainless steel band type on mine first time out. I ended up covering the lot with solid ally heat shields with edging strip, check m avatar and photo gallery, otherwise looks good.

Exhaust clamp will not pass sva

Use a VW type band clamp on the exhaust with the clamp bolt towards the body. Turned up a steel "dome " to cover the nut and exposed threads

It may have failed at your specific centre, but according to the rules, that exhaust clamp is below the theoretical floor line of the car and therefore will pass.

Turning it away from the examiner's sphere is just common sense as it could catch someone in theory...

I was not sure if our band type exhaust clamp would pass SVA or if it was too low to count anyway so as a precaution i welded a 1/8 band of gas welding rod round it and it passed it fine. I intend to simply change the clamps once on the road.
No we did not need an exhause clamp
( yesterday ).
