Would someone kindly point me in the direction of or remind me of the rules regarding the positioning of the front wings. I can't find what I want in the SVA manual. There's summat about a horizontal line through the middle of the wheel or summat?

the other being you cannot see any part of the tyre sidewall sticking out when viewed directly from above.
Nooo. Don't say that. I thought it was the wheel itself and not the tyre.I'm sure I read that somewhere in the SVA book. You can see a few mm on each side of the arch. was going to line it so nowt sticks out on the outside.
The tester will take a line from the top and bottom rim of the wheel itself, not the tyre. The mudguard must be outside of that line.
He used a straight edge with 2 lumps that contacted the rim, and another that he could use to judge where the edge of the mudguard was. You could
probably make something yourself, using a length of straight wood and 3 blocks of exactly the same height.
As for the position, the front of the mudguard must be ahead of the front of the wheel rim. I'm not 100% sure about the rear of the mudguard,
but I recollect something about not seeing tyre if you look straight down.
Here's a picture of mine (taken ages ago) that passed SVA, and he did measure it closely!

That'll do for me. The rim is inside but the tyres slightly out. My wings look very similar in size to yours there.Cheers David
If I recall (as I failed on it!)
The leading edge of the wing has to be in front of the leading edge of the rim (not the tyre)
There should be no exposed rim/tyre to the sides of the wing as this would then make the wheels outside of the bodyplan.

But if the tyre only showed on the inside of the wing then theoretically it would be inside the bodyplan would it not?
The SVA manual does exclude tyre projection, but I think that means towards the front and rear where there is no rim.
I personally would assume that the inside of your tyre will be level with the inside of the rim, therefore any inward tyre projection would also be
rim projection which would be a fail.
I know I had to widen my wings by 1" to cover the criteria and pass.
Personally I would go beyond what is required rather than try to scrape through and fail...
