Failed the SVA last Thursday on 13 points, all minor ones.

The one that I would like some info on it the pipes from the brake reservoir to the master cylinder. The white marking had rubbed off mine and Mr SVA wanted info on the pipes used. I have got some reference numbers off the pipes which I have at home and will publish later once I get home. Does anyone know what pipes should be used, is there a set standard or reference number that is used. I don't mind changing the pipes as it should only take 10 mins to change. Is there a site that lists pipes reference numbers...should the pipes be lower pressure ones.....

Mine are Fiat Seicento hoses.

A couple of pictures in my archive of marked hoses. The longer one is p/n 46774776, 290mm long, and the other is p/n 46774775, 220mm long. Total cost £8.48 inc vat.


If I had known I would have just bought 2 of the shorter ones, they are just the right length.

They need to be designed for low pressure brake fluid and will have a cotton braided cover. Ideally you need to ask the supplier to include a certificate which states it is ok with the part number printed on the hose.

i am in need of some hose too, and i have noticed that the toyota previa(latest type) has these pipes but are not braided. if they are good enough for manufacturers surely its god enough for sva?

got some photos of the labeling on the pipes going to the master cylinder.

Seems as the pipes are made in USA (they came with the master cylinder and reservoir from the kit manufacturer). The number is CS072405 D100 and is upto 200psi.

If anyone can give me any info on the pipes I would be greatful.

found out that the pipes are made by gates from USA, waiting for specification to be emailed back to me.

An update as I can't add a new reply here.....the specification did not arrive so I hunted down some new pipes that dealt with brake fluid and had an email from AP racing saying so. I did phone everyone in yellow pages under piping / hydraulic / brakes etc, even auto part suppliers featured in car mags and they could not help. Speaking to everyone about this, this is a big concern and a majority of cars fail SVA because the pipes used can't handle brake fluid, even fuel marked rubber pipes can't be used. So if you are after brake fluid pipes between the reservoir and master cylinder, try APRacing.

I've just asked a similar question.

Demon Theives do some - but its not obvious when you search for it online, i think its push on hose brakes finds it.

Think Automotive sell the correct hose. Been covered loads of times. Would put in link if I knew how but if you do a search you should find the info you need
