Hi all, i got me an old fashioned horn from a boot fair recently and was wondering what Mr SVA would make of it?
Something like this one. Rescued attachment IS956-021.jpg

Not sure about the radius of edges!!

Just leave it off untill after SVA as you don't need one for SVA. Strange but true!

Road side test for horns used to be (may still be) "The horn is required to be audible over the engine noise" laughable really.

The highway code says the horn is for off road use only. Thats probably why its not SVA requirement

During my SVA yesterday, I was told that it was not a requirement to test for a working horn for the SVA, but it was tested during an MOT (unless I had my ear plugs in!!)

Sound very silly really.....

Don't know where you got that idea. Highway code rule 92:

92: The horn. Use only while your vehicle is moving and you need to warn other road users of your presence. Never sound your horn aggressively. You MUST NOT use your horn

* while stationary on the road
* when driving in a built up area between the hours of 11.30 pm and 7.00 am

A horn is required for type-approved vehicles. but seems to have been left out of SVA.
