My car is going in for SVA on Thursday.
Just a quick question on the area around the gear lever and hand brake.
Although the car has been carpeted, the area around the gear lever and hand brake has not been fitted with a metal surround. They both have gaiters
round them but these have not been fixed yet.
Is there anything in the SVA rules to say that the area has to be finished off.
The top panel that fits over them has rubber strip round the edges so sharp edges don’t come into it.

Tim
Probably not.
As long as you have all your edges safely done and can't access the propshaft with your fingers should be OK.
I would be slightly concerned however that if the car is seen to be "unfinished", you may be inviting extra strong scrutiny.
Post a picture if you can.
Good luck
2nd the theory that a "finished" car will be more likely to pass. If you've obviously missed bits off they'll likely scrutenise a bit more or wonder what the hell you're going to add immediately afterwards "razor encrusted handbrake shroud?"...
I have added some photos on my build site. They are the last 3 photos in the album that show the hand brake and gear lever, hope they help.

Looked good when I saw you at stoneleigh
Will you be at Donny?
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the praise, it was SVA day yesterday. Had 13 failures, 6 fixed within 30 mins. Have a slight problem with the ele speedo which was a bit
eratic, could not get a steady reading of around 55 mph and was showing any reading between 60 - 70, so have to sort that out. Yes, going to
Donnington all being well, John has asked if Vincent can be shown off again....
