Slippy pedels
dhollin3 - 21/6/07 at 12:21 PM

A couple of SVA questions:

My SVA picked up on me not having non-slip padels. What is the best way or getting them to pass?

Also the mudguards are fouling on the tyres. Is it going to be ok to lift them a bit higher as it is the flanges that tough the tyre. I.e. The width of the mudguards are slightly too small but this wasn't picked up as being a problem.

Thanks

For the pedals you can get some wet and dry and either some spray mount or some double sided sticky tape and stick sections of the wet and dry on.

Or... if you know any people interested in skate-boards you can get deck tape which you put on the top surface of the board for good grip... (it's courser and already sticky on one side).

For the pedals, do a search, but from memory the typical methods are:

Stick sandpaper on
Stick skateboard grip tape on
I stuck a bit of Woolworth's rubber shoe sole

Re mudgaurds - I don't think thre is a minimum height requirement (= distance from tyre) so just move it far enough away not to foul. You say they are not wide enough, but the rule is that it has to cover the wheel, so if the tyre sticks out slightly further you should be OK

mhhh me is told you need rubber on the pedals... not anti slip..

I can confirm that skateboard deck tape WILL pass SVA - mine did. It also provides a great non-slip surface

That post is a good idea. It will highlight their inconsistencies. Reading other posts a DVLA section should proivide great reading. Should that be an incompetence section?

You can kill two birds with one stone - get a cheap set of blingy pedal covers from eBay (about a tenner) and bolt them to your pedals.
Nice and grippy and they look good too

You only need non slip on the brake pedal AFAIK.

I used a couple of the ali bolt on type as Razman mentioned. Rescued attachment MK Indy build pics 120.jpg
