Escort V5 please?
goodguydrew - 9/3/07 at 01:31 AM

Hi all,

I am building an "original" book based car, with an S1 period look like this picture below. I don't have anything against Q plates, but I would really like to be able to transfer a period plate onto the car when complete, just to make it look right. So, does anyone have an Escort V5 available?

Surely you don't need an Escort V5? If you qualify for an age-related plate, you can then transfer any reg? In any case, the oldest Escort reg would have a suffix letter, so would not be the same period as the Series 1 (only produced to 1960).

you won't be able to transfer any reg. period.

now if you can show that you have used 2 major components from the donor, then if you are lucky, you will get an age related plate - i.e. a regisration that is the same age as that of your donor vehicle.

I am not sure but I don't think you can then replace your age related plate with a different or older plate.

Pretty sure you can, like any plate can be changed for an older one.

I've also read that age related plates issued to kits can't be transferred.

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/consultations/summ_190404.pdf

Which states that "• That all kit converted vehicles built using a new or modified chassis/bodyshell be allocated non- transferable VRMs and that cherished transfers be prohibited in the same way as ‘Q’ registered vehicles."

Yep if you get an age related you can put on a personalised or older plate.

If you get a Q you cannot change the reg at all.

The document above refers to a 'recommendation' has this actually been executed yet??

Correct, You cannot transfer the kit car age-related plate onto another car. But you can transfer a plate of the same, or older age onto the kitcar...
