Nearly ready for SVA
whitestu - 19/8/06 at 03:43 PM

Hi

I've applied for my SVA - just waiting for the date now. The car is nearly finished so any comments on what might fail are welcome. I'll post some better pics when I can get it out of the garage.

Thanks

Whats really spooky is I have the exact same rug under my Westfield, the sad thing is that it was hugly expensive when my wife bought it!

Very nice Stu.
From the pic your rear 1/4 panel looks ok. (but will still post the Clips.)
My rear panel was so bad it was 10mm too wide on bothsides, i had to use them to pull it closer to the side panel.
Good luck, its not that bad. Put a lock nut/spring washer on everything, and check under the scuttle to see if thefibre glass overhangs the chassis.

Cheers Nige

Thanks

The rug was actually really cheap - about £20 from Snetterton market!

The wife was glad to see the back of it.

I've put some more pictures in my archive if anyone would be kind enough to have a look [called SVA 1-6].

Ps
Anyone know how to post multiple pics in a post?

Thanks

Stu

Its looking very nice, You may need to cover the lower spring adjusting ring.

Are they Honda Cub mirrors?

Best of luck with the test.
Steve.

Thanks Steve - Yes they are Cub mirrors.

I had planned to make some covers out of inner tube rubber to go round the spring platforms.

One thing I'm not sure about are the front flexible brake pipes - on full lock I wouldn't say they are tight, but only have very little slack in them.

Would be fairly easy to move them if they failed though.

Stu
ps where did you get the rubber strip that goes between the bonnet and scuttle in your pic archive?

Nice looking car. I have borrowed one of your photos and marked up the things that I did for my SVA at Newcastle.

Cheers Mike - A few new ones to check there. It hadn't occured to me to check the height of the indicators.

I've just checked them and they are 380 mm [Parked on the floor!] so should be OK.

I'll definately trim the shock mount, and will put a split nut cover on the headlight mount [once they are pointing the right way]

I might have some old rc car tyres kicking about. If not I'll make some overs up out of inner tube.

Thanks for the help

Stu
