Hydraulic clamps

Hi, would I be okay to use a hydraulic clamp to secure a brake banjo union??

The clamp is welded to the chassis and clamps the banjo union in between two half circules then you secure all of that two two M6 bolts?

Or I could put a thread on the banjo union its 13.7mm and secure the same as the front flexi, if anyone knows were I could source a die?

Haven't a clue what you mean but almost certainly the SVA man wouldn't like either way.

Yes you could use a Stauff style clamp around the furrel of the fitting, but generally those clamps are used to support the tube or hose along its length, not generally the ends. If you needed to support the end fitting so securely you would probably be better off fitting it to a bulkhead union. The bulkhead union can be fitted into a small piece of angle iron (or similar) which is welded onto the chassis.

Also, are you sure you are using a banjo union. A banjo bolt normally secures this type of fitting (the fluid runs through the bolt) so you would not really need any additional support.

Do you have a pic of the hose / tube fitting ?

I am failing to post any pics at the moment?? got the pic from the net.

I have a 3/16 brake pipe into a male union which inturn threads into a female/female union and then a banjo bolt into that.

A flexi runs from the banjo bolt and I would like to clamp the female/female union with the clamp in pic if its ok for sva.

Hope that makes sense.

I have never tried to SVA that situation, but my personal feeling would be no.

That type of clamp has only limited capability to stop rotation. If you use that clamp on the front wheels for example and the flexi runs out to the hub, the steering and suspension movement applies a torque to the union. Even if the clamp is initially a good fit its grip will soon start to slip, this will then allow the torsional effect to transfer through into the metal tubing, which will in time (probably quite quickly) fracture and fail.

Then you have lost your brakes .

Any other ideas how to hold the female/ female union then?? its 13.7mm in diameter looking to put a thread on it and mount through a bracket and secure with nuts, same as front.

Anyone know what die with turn a 13.7mm.

To attach an image to a post it has to be on your own computer not somewhere on the web. Download the image to your desktop then attach your desktop copy to the post.
