Hi guys
I have a low cost low tec pedal box made from original escort that I broke up hundreds of years ago.Does it need to have a top or lid on it for SVA.

I think you have to have the passenger compartment sealed from the engine bay - in case of fire etc....

How sealed is sealed? Mine isn't waterproof, fireproof or even spider proof - do I have a problem? Rescued attachment Sealed Pedals.jpg

Mine certainly isn't waterproof!

I just think I read somewhere about it being able to act as a firewall (even a short term one)

Just think if the engine caught fire as you were driving along, you could probably stop and get out in just a few seconds. But if the burning fuel was spraying all over your feet cos there was no lid on your pedal box, you might wish you'd had a go at making one!

Just my thoughts

Cheers

MIne has holes for the column and trottle pedal. Passed SVA no problems. Only require firewall for motorsport.

Yeah I think it would have to be sealed off. Gonna do it. Now where`s the lid off my tin of cadburys roses?

I disn't have one at all and passed no problem.
A GRP scuttle wouldn't be a firewall anyway.

Not a requirement but a very good idea to do if you value your own skin.

Mine was open but I sealed it to keep some heat out as my feet were melting
