Question pls
Description
Ive got Symbols and Lights - for most things except fogs and Brakes/HB which i can fit separately.
Question is - Side lights and Dipped lights (symbols on sierra stalk) have no Green light on dash (mk2 Escort) - just blue for MB
do i need to provide a green light when the Side lights come on ? and if yes, does it have to have the symbol within the light ie so you can see what
it is at night.? or just a green light with a small sticker saying SIDE/DIPPED LIGHTS ?
side lights on is usually indicated by the instrument panel/dials being lit.
edit see secn 22 note1
"Note 1: The tell-tale must operate with the operation of the position
lamp switch, it may be the illumination of the instruments or a
separate lamp of any colour (providing it is not likely to confuse the
driver) clearly identified in either a pictogram (see section 33) or in
a word format. "

while you are looking at dash lights,
remember old style alternators use the 2w panel light bulb as part of the charge system control.
it cannot just be left out, or indeed changed to led.
but you can hide the bulb itself or substitute it with a high power resistor under the dash.
if you want it as an led panel light, matching all other led panel lights this can be added to the circuit, but you must keep the original
bulb/resistor in circuit for the alternator to work properly.
Don't know the IVA rules on this (SVA for me what came before IVA).
I fitted these indicator lamps with the symbols on them. Passed the SVA without a problem.
