Crazy I know, but I'm building an electronic indicator circuit which works fine, turning P type MOSFETs on and off. I plan to have two
"tell tale" lamps on the dash - I favour green LEDs but maybe orange to match the indicator lights. Although I understand that one
(flashing) panel lamp will suffice.
I have a rather rudimentary hazard warning switch with a red LED. Can anyone tell me, is it okay to leave both the Left and Right panel lamps
blinking along with the red LED in the hazard switch?
I'm struggling to find anything where this is specifically mentioned.
Thanks in advance
Adrian
yes that would be fine, but you don't need the red light, just having both l&r flashing together is good enough
EDIT
doubting myself now, but it is normal on modern cars to have both l&r dash indicators showing with hazards, but the manual seems to require red
too.
EDIT 2,
I was right first time see Table A, Identification of Controls. just both l&r flashing green is good.

My MX5 loom has hazards triggering left and right arrows on the dash, nothing on the switch itself.
Just to point out though, the telltales have to be green, if you change them to orange they will fail. There's a table of telltales including
acceptable shapes and colours.
Thanks for your reply, now I’m wondering where I can find “a table of telltales including acceptable shapes and colors”?
I thought it’d be acceptable to simply use LEDs with a legible word underneath but now I’m thinking maybe they have to have specific shapes. Is this
listed somewhere in the IVA manual? Telltale dashboard lamps with images seem to be outrageously expensive to buy

It's in the identification of controls section, table A (page 236). You can get marked coloured lenses for most light fittings, they don't cost much but if you need a fair few then it multiplies up. I printed mine on to clear laminate and it looks decent.
IVA is only interested in making a car safe, not whether it will run. So temperature and fuel are just for your benefit. I don't even have a fuel
sender let alone a gauge, although feel free to remind me of that when I'm out of fuel on the side of the road!
The only mandatory ones are for lights (including fog lights and main beam), indicators/hazards, and brakes (fluid level).
That’s great news, I really do need to work my way through the IVA manual
