Seat belt mountings for IVA

If fitting harnesses and seats on sliding rails, are the book style triangular plate mountings at the base of the bulkhead/transmission tunnel appropriate?

Also, what is required on the bulkhead above your shoulders, I don't like the look of the middle of the top cross member as a mounting point but there isn't really any other option?

Cheers!

tbh I never liked using the back bulkhead, especially at the middle for mounting harnesses as it looked very easy to bend in a crash. I'd always weld on a roll bar (as a must anyway unless you want a car on your head) and mount the harnesses to that instead.

i still can't work out if eye bolts have to be screwed in to a threaded bush, or can they just be welded to the cage?

I think they can be welded on. If threaded bush is used, it must be through the tube and welded to both faces, or welded along its length to the wide of the tube (eww) but not welded end on to the tube so the eye bolt sits perpendicular to the tube face.

The roll bar would be far too high unless you fitted an additional crossmember at the correct height.......

as far as I'm aware they must be screwed into a welded in threaded bush or have a bolt on the otherside of a 3mm plate

it says threaded bushes must be welded at both ends, which is fine. but it doesn't say that you MUST use threaded bushes. weird

as for using the roll bar, you're right its too high, but i have got 2 bars making a X, which happens to be the right height

Here's what I'm doing....they're not finished yet!! Basically they're machined out of solid block, 50mm long tube section threaded 7/16 UNF - this to get correct top height for mounting harnesses. They will be welded to rear bulkhead and a sandwich plate fitted so that they are welded on both sides for strength. Currently weigh jst over 1kg (all 4) but as said, they're not complete and are being lightweighted!!
