Work Progressing, back on the road, sort of.
Well its been interesting past few weeks. Holed my sump, just below the drain plug.
So jacked up & removed sump and cut off about an inch from the bottom of it then made up side wings amd welded them on. DOHHHH. I forgot to allow
for the starter motor going back on so had to cut and shut the newly welded on nearside extension. Trial refit. Trim pick up pipe to fit. Cut bottom
and weld on. Then I checked my sump for leaks, and I had .........................
a Sieve/collander. DOHHHHHHHHHH.
Work got busy (holiday time) so sorting out all the little leaks took the best part of 2 weeks.
Anyway to cut a long story short the sump is now refitted.

Also while I was firkling around at the front I did the front wish bone bushes and the matched pair of (better) top ball joints.
Just got to turn the car around and do the rear end bushes and springs.
Oh and on my way back from a bit of a blat my clutch started to show signs of slipping, although that might just be down to exuberent driving and over
heating it. Next drive out will tell.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Did you notice any difference having sorted the front end?

It did feel smother at the front, but want to get rear end done & then reset front (castor/camber/tracking) suspension properly. That should make
a massive difference.

Well, I whipped the engine out this morning, new LUK clutch ready to go in ( not bad price £79) and then I found why the clutch started slipping.
B%gg*r is a good word. Sump rear lip seal (you know the one, it sits in the little slot in the oil seal housing) had popped out as I fitted the sump.
That will teach me, I've never had very sattisfactory results fitting sumps in situ on the deck. should have taken the engine out in the first
place.
