Veocity windscreen - Robinhood GBS ?????

Am i right in thinking that i can get a screen from Robinhood that will fit the Velocity scuttle ? Im sure Piddy or someone used a Robinhood screen for their Velocity but on the GBS website i can only find the 2B screen and im sure they are a much wider screen/scuttle panel ?

I am going to try and fit it with the Westfield screen supports and finishing panel that i aquired embarrasingly cheap

I really like the Westfield supports etc but have been hunting for a screen and ive come to the end of the road with no results. Looking for the most affordable (read Locost) option.

Regards Andy

AFAIA the Velocity scuttle is the same as the Luego Locost (but better made?) If that is the case the the Lolocost screen fits, in fact Matt from old Luego told me thats where they got theirs which they then resold at nearly double the price. Not sure if the GBS screen is the same as the Lolocost item but it would be worth a phone call?

Cheers Rusty,

I think the Velocity scuttle is the same top profile as the Luego locost but just a bit taller so will try lolocost.

I've trial fitted the westfield supports/screen finisher and the profile is spot on. Will look really neat if i can pull it off.

Ive got a robin hood screen and frame but it is about 2 inches to wide for a book locost, is the velocity the same width as book car?

As far as i know, the velocity is same width as a book chassis.

Sounds like you have a 2B screen as i'm sure they are much wider.

Just had a rough measure and my scuttle is roughly 39" wide on the dashboard side, it tapers down smaller after that where it meets the bonnet.

I wrote to kit parts direct (GBS) in may asking exactly the same question - they sent one line in reply and I quote:

"Hi our lightweight screen fits the Luego it has E marks which comply with IVA."

I have since discovered my chassis is not a velocity, but the earlier Luego Locost - where the windscreen would fit my scuttle measures about 35 / 36 inches - that is part - way onto the curve. The bottom of the scuttle (at its widest point ) is 42 inches.

How do these sizes compare with the velocity?

Whoops ! I measured the wrong part of my chassis yesterday, it is as you say - 42" at the widest part of the scuttle (the dashboard side) so sounds exactly the same as yours steve.

Mine is an XT but as far as i know, the main chassis is the same, just different rear IRS/axle.

Velocity body is just a couple of inches higher than the locost bodywork from Luego.

I don't need another couple of inches in height, but there is no doubt that 3/4 of an inch would make all the difference ( see my post entitled "Wow! what a tight fit this XE is" - also in the Luego section).

Hi if you are still after the windscreen, I do have a GBS, Zero one, complete with frame etc. I am definitely not putting it on so will part with it for a price.
I know that the GBS price for everything is around £175.
If you are interested U2U me
Ian

Bit of an update for you, Andy - windscreen I bought at Newark - this is what you get - E17 marked toughened glass, alloy extrusions, rubber seals - a bit DIY, but a perfect fit - I took my scuttle to the GBS stall to try it out! The windscreen is what they make for their 'lightweight'. They also had the 2b screen - which was about 4" wider - miles out.

Hope this helps you, Steve.

Andy you will need the screen from the zero.
Mine was from a lightweight (Same screen as zero)
All of the screens suppied by the original Luego came from Robin hood, just cost twice as much.

I think you'll find it uses the wider one, which is the 2B screen, but I'm sure a viento owner will correct me if I'm wrong.

" 2B ... or not 2B ... that is the question..."
