Zetec turbo in a Velocity
Jazzy - 22/9/06 at 11:58 AM

Hi, is it possible to install a Zetec turbo engine in a Velocity? Would the turbo be too close to the bodywork etc? Many thanks in advance.

yes it would be possible. there have been vauxhall turbo's fitted to westfields and cosworth and nissan turbo's fitted to mk's which are all near enough the same size body and chassis wise.

you may need some special parts to get the packaging right but it's definately doable.

Ned.

I saw a Velocity at Donny which seemed to have a Cosworth turbo fitted.
The owner had cut the chassis changed it and re welded it to get it all in.

Mmm sounds like too much work for me! If only it was a simple task.

It all depends how you make your manifolds etc. You can make them to fit..

From that pic it looks like the turbo outlet goes straight to the inlet manifold. Surely that's not the case - where is the intercooler?

Trust me, compared to the overall task of building the thing, a bit of chopping and changing is small fry. I had to cut the sh*t out of mine to fit the bike engine, so long as you put some strength back in where you can it's fine. So long as you're not too far into the build, that is...

Go for it !!!

Rich.
