I fitted my drivers seat, along with the dash etc and sat in the Viento last night for the first time. Initial problems are, my knees bang the
steering wheel, my head is dubiously close to the top of the cage and my knuckles hit the dash when I go into 1st, 3rd and 5th. Sigh somehow the
last 5% of the build is causing me 90% of the problems.
Has anyone bent or shortened the standard Rover V8 gear stick?

I think(!) It has been cut down in my xtreme, fraid I didn't do it.
anything specific you want to know ?
My head is dubiously close to the top of the cage as well. My fix is to make sure that I don't roll the car whilst at the same time reminding myself how much worse it would be in a smaller car. If you look at a lot of peoples pictures on here and draw a line from the roll bar to the highest structural point in front of the driver you will find that it goes through their head!

I cut my lever down to the right height.
Then I warmed the end of the lever with a small blow lamp.
Then smeared Hot Melt Glue on the stick.
Then press on the new knob.
Warm gearstick to remove the knob.
DONT put HM Glue in the knobs hole.
The lever will cool it quickly and you wont get it fully onto the lever.
Been there done that!
My gear knob didnt move in 6 years.
Simple solution for a simple problem.

Had similar problems when I built my car but sorted it using a gear lever remote. ISTR that there are at least 2 lengths of remote for the rover box , Jaguars 2.8 xj6 for one . It may be possible to lengthen yours?
My Viento came up for sale end of last year. I was SO tempted to buy it back... but didnt.
I have spent the money on a Harley Davidson (another bucket list tickbox done) and converting a Sprinter into a motorhome.
So I dont really have the money spare.
I tracked it down to a dealer in Holland, when I spotted it on the net. The Dealer says it was sold on and is registered in Germany now.
So I doubt if I will see it again.
I am still sad to see it gone, and I still miss it. I think I'm unlikely to build another.
About a week ago, and another Viento came up for sale, and I was tempted again!
So the passion is stil there.
I will be coming to Stoneliegh to see everyone, and to sulk and mope around over any Viento's that are there!
