Velocity Header Tank?
helen & phill - 23/11/04 at 05:19 PM

Has anybody got any suggestions on what header tank to use for the cooling system on the Velocity XT, off what car? or a supplier of one?

Cheers

I have used one from a westfield I think it was originally from an XR2.

Why dont you use a sierra one but basically any one with 2 outlets will do.

Try the one from the Rover 200 (new shape). Nice symetrical shape, dead easy to mount......

No, the one I used was a much rounder shape, and was originally mounted against a vertical bulkhead, the one shown in your photo looks like it was probably fitted over an inner wing panel. Will post a photo in my archive shortly - if I can remember how to do it....

Photo now in archive.

Look if I could make that ... I would be floggin them like hot cakes!

Its very nice polished Stainless.

I wish I could just weld that good!

I got it off Ebay, I can dig out the contact / Email address if you want. I dont know if it was a one off, as I have not seen one like it since.
Drop me a U2U if you want.. No probs..

Tom
It came from the scrappy, marked Rover 200/400. It was a bit dirty but hot water and vinegar, let it stand for awhile, added a table spoon of brown rice and gave it a damn good shaking, cleaned it up a treat. Left the support long to make it the high point in the system.

ChrisW - 29/11/04 at 01:31 PM

Alifab are quite good for custom tanks and stuff. Made my Viento petrol tank for me to my design for £90 and it's a top job.

Shouldn't this be in the "curry for breakfast" thread in anything else.

Mark,

Just looked at your website (briefly cos it's late and I wanna sleep).

I can't justify the expense at the moment, but could you give a little more detail on the bike carbs to Rover V8 manifolds you're doing and what setting up is involved. U2U if you prefer.

Thanks very much

ATB
