Well, those that went to the Northants meet will know what I am on about, however, for the rest of you........
Yesterday, I thought the time has come to drop my car OFF its axles stands and just do a quick up and down in the car to check that the brakes work
and see if there are any nasty vices that I have to look at before SVA then stamp the chassis and do the final bits.
However my car had other ideas. after all the months of doing things and re checking with no problems, when I dropped it down off the stands and put
the keys in it and switched on.
No dash lights. I tracked that down to a couple of blown fuses. So I tried starting again. Engine turned but no start and no sound of the fuel pump
working.
Started checking and had power to the pump. So off comes the pump. Check the pump on a battery booster pack, worked fine.. By this time it was
getting late and I was starting to get a bit weary (only 3 hours sleep in last 24). Packed everything away and went to Northants area meeting.
Couldn't drown my sorrows due to my driving and and having to start work at midnight.
Today is a new day, finish work, go to bed and about 5 hours sleep. Got up and started again in the garage. Traced power back to pump, fine. power
through pump, then found no earth. . Rechecked all connectors, found one connector plug that was together (enough to provide
power) but not fully (no earth). Pushed it together fully and hey presto.
Any way the long and short of it is that with just 9 days to go to SVA, my car has now turned a wheel under its own steam.
Well words are just not enough to say how impressed I am. It goes like stink. Pulls like a trooper (from 10mph in 4th gear). Sounds SWEEEEEEEEEET.
Front wheels definitely lock up before the rears, so I should be able to lock off the bias bar.
I will post some pictures of it here out of its home (for the past 3 years) but I am just waiting for my son to down load the pics from his camera.
The only thing that I think I need to look at is to see If I can dial in some self centre-ing on the steering, although at the mo I only have 20psi in
the front tyres and the steering needs to be aligned properly. But that I hope will sort it.
Time now to fit all the appropriate SVA stuff.

Hi Clive,
So we were right about the earth, I'm glad you have it sorted out.
Good luck with the test, but don't leave too late.
David
It looks bloody aweful !!!!! only kidding.... well done chap we await the 'what else do i need to do before SVA post now'
Very nice
looks good .... but why is David Bellamy sitting in your car?
Make sure all earths are down to bare metal. Scrape the powder coat away then smear with Vasseline / Petroleum Jelly.
Its better than grease for electrical connections. Believe me. BT have been using it on battery connections for 40+ years that I know of, (and well
before that)
You dont want them rusting up later and giving bad earth problems which can be a sod to find.
Looks good... You should have ordered matching Black rear arches.
Still it looks good.. Keep the piccies flowing.
Good luck with the SVA.
You look happy Clive, the car looks great, keep at it you'll be celebrating on 23rd!
Geoff.
