What do think so far?
Alan B - 19/12/07 at 01:41 PM

Hi guys, I've just been playing with some rendering on my Tiki project...some of it isn't done yet, body work, seats etc....but some is done and not shown like the rear suspension....So there is lot missing but I trying to gauge response so far.....

Be gentle.....LOL

Very nice. What engine are you planning?
ps love the colour

Alan B - 19/12/07 at 01:52 PM

The engine is a Honda I-VTEC...it's already in and mounted..in fact it's actually a rolling chassis....just needs a lot of completing....

speedyxjs - 19/12/07 at 01:55 PM

Nice

Before anyone else thinks of it I've already nicknamed the "Fatom"...

I like to think it's curvy..

No copyright then

Mr Whippy - 19/12/07 at 02:04 PM

The engine's made of concrete and you've forgotten to bolt on the rear suspension.

Apart from that it's nice.

what package are you using?

Alan B - 19/12/07 at 02:09 PM

Yeah it does look concrete..LOL..Supposed to be cast alumin(i)um........rear suspension I may add later..hard to be motivated after you've made it...

ETA...Solidworks

Thats one cool concept.

I like the whole idea.

Keep us up to date with your progress.

If you feel the urge to give me a full set of drawings for christmas, I wouldn't mind.

Not sure there is enough triangulation - is the chassis stiff enough? Would that also include the rear suspension area, as there is no triangulation there at all...

Otherwise, nice model - I love the way solidworks looks. Very nice.

Alan B - 19/12/07 at 04:43 PM

As you see it you are quite right.....the real thing does have more triangulation and still has more to come.....valid observation all the same..

Cheers,

Alan

It seems most solidworks rendered cars can fly...it's getting them on the ground that's hard..

Thanks...

If you fit bigger wheels it'll reach the floor.

HTH, Neil.

Looks good Alan

As for comments, to my mind the headlights look very "traditional" against the rest of it. Maybe you can jazz them up somehow, use more modern smaller ones maybe?

Also the nose cone just seems to sit on top of the wider frame, but I am not sure what to suggest to get it to blend into the shape of the framework better

Cheers

Fred W B

Alan B - 19/12/07 at 08:26 PM

Thanks for the feedback.

Neil....bigger wheels just pushes the ground further away...

Fred....Yes the lights are very traditional...my thing was that if I can make it look OK (IMO) with those then any headlight improvements can only make it better...I do have twin smaller lights as possible improvement in mind....yes, basically the nose cone does just sit on with the idea being for it to visually narrow the (neccesarily wide for 3 people) frame rather than blend...I bit like skimpy clothing is meant to do....I assume...

Again good feedback which I appreciate, thanks. Please don't think I'm arguing back after asking for feedback....just explaining my design decisions (good or bad)

Cheers, Alan

Nice design, as the name suggests, a fatter Atom! Nice weight distribution, but what if only one passenger? Opposite side to the engine? where's the fuel tank? I'd fit twin side radiators!
Don't like the wheels and would look better with some sort of one piece carbon floor pan and sides.
Looking forward to seeing the real thing.

Good job.

Alan B - 19/12/07 at 09:31 PM

Good positive feedback....many of your suggestions are of the "this what i'd do" category..all valid and could easily be done by whoever builds it I guess

One passenger...hmmm never though of that....still no different to a two seater in that the left/right balance is bound to alter...

Fuel tank is behind the driver.

Twin rads...thought of that but went for simplicity (and cheapness)...see if it works Ok...

Wheels....fit what you like I guess....

Floor...yep that would work...not sure what I'm doing yet

Cheers, Alan

SDR V-storm?

www.sdrsportscars.co.uk

Similar "AAIS" (Ariel Atom Inspired Sportscar) and with 3 seats too. Bike engine though.

Both look great in my opinion!

Yes I have seen it...in the flesh actually...both of us doing a similar thing without knowledge of the other...I quite like it (obviously..LOL)
