I was taking a quick look through my archives during lunch today and found this image. October 20, 2001.
What a blast from the past for me!
Does anyone else have an early build photo and a date they'd like to share?
I remember the look of joy on my missus' face as I parked a very rusty gold Mk2 ford escort outside the house.
May 2000? (sva'd June 2004, 3 house moves later)
My first photo - January 2004
Status as in avater end 2005

Build Table - Jan 2004
[Edited on 7/6/06 by Fred W B]
I started 1 year and 5 days ago. I've been on the road for 6 months. What do you mean you haven't finished yet?
just got my car on the road.
looking back through all the receipts so that I could register it and Ron signed my book when I bought it from newark show in 2000 and I bought the
steel to start the chassis jan 2001
1997 start - 2005 finish & SVA!
Most of the work was done in the last 2 years.
David

Bought donor in June 2000.
1st proper drive 2nd June 2006.
So If I start another next year it probably won't be on the road until 2013.
Crikey, I'll be 53!
David
Good thread Steve.
My first building was this...around 9/9/02..although there was some donor stripping before this.
Here is a photo of John and I last May
Progress has been slow but have just been mocking up the rear end prior to ordering the Stainless silencer I won from Wunoff several years ago - top
chaps are honouring it!!

Here is my rear, if you know what I mean!
A few Lotus 340R influences have crept in so the lights and number plate will no longer be on a fiberglass panel. 'scuse the
sellotape!

If sellotape has character does masking tape count too? My engine bay mocked up in pine and 50mm masking tape

Mock up engine bay

this is the part part+picture of my build!
an exhaust of all things!
These two were taken about 8 years apart. It's not what get's built, it's the journey:
Here's my beginning - December 2004. Ok, so I cheated and got my chassis from the factory but it was a little more complicated so am I forgiven?
I spent two weeks in that freezing garage rivetting the panels on.
I'm nearly there now - just got mapping to do, paint and hopefully SVA in a few weeks.

Hay Kurt - Love that pic of your mini, does it need that bulge in the bonnet (hood) if the engine is in the back?
Fred
Hi Fred,
It looks goofy from that angle, but it's the kick-up for the radiator exit. (It looked even more strange without it.) Here's another
angle:
