New Project
Hi Guys
I'm looking for idears what do you think ????????
I have bought and repaired a cat D MGF TF 1.6 on a 2003 plate, Repairs are all done and its back on the road.
But being as is only a 1.6 i think it could do with some more horses, so i;m thinking on the lines of an engine / gearbox swap and i like the c20xe
engine , but was woundering if anyone out there has a better idear, i am not too worried about the amount of work as i have had vauxhalls in
mini's and metros and fiestas all as front wheel drive, but i am quite taken by the idear of one in the back of the mgf, the only problem i can
see at the mo is gear linkage.
But hey guys this is a challenge so what do you all think????????????
Regards Bill.
Theres a kit to stick a 1.8t VAG engine in an elise iirc - wont be the same subframe but might be similar youd have thought?
Another option for you perhaps..

Sell your good one and buy one with the headgasket gone cheap - plenty of them! Rip the engine out of that instead.
Think that Blaze motorsport do a body conversion based on the MGF.May be worth a look.

And there are sooooooo many people flogging their MGF's cheap because they're convinced the head gasket has definately gone because it's losing coolant - often it's just the clips on the rad hoses or the hoses themselves that have allowed coolant to leak.
Many a person has got themselves a bargain 'blown head gasket - spares or repairs only' and got back on the road for a £12 part.
