McPherson Strut Donor Uprights

For those of you wondering what other front struts can be used, there are a couple of methods for using mcpherson struts cut down as used by Dutton & Sylva (Striker) on mk2 escort struts.

These methods can undoubtedly be reused on other struts which do not unbolt from the upright.

The Dutton uses a maxi balljoint in the top and both reuse the escort TCA on the bottom. Hope this is of interest or help! Rescued attachment dutt.jpg

And the Sylva is below, believed to use transit balljoint as per locost. Rescued attachment sylva.jpg

And if you use Capri struts the stub is an inch lower on the strut - effectively lowering the car - and aslo the new Sylva assembly uses a LDV/sherpa track rod end in a fabricated wishbone to replace the ford TCA - so you have access to fully adjustable suspension.

Both Escort 3/4/5's and Sierras have been modified in a similar fashion
