Getting Rid of the donor left overs
Can you guys help, Im planning to pick up a donor but was wondering how easy it is to get rid of a scrap car with no wheels hubs transmission etc, do
scrap yards not entertain it or how much should I expect to pay to get rid of say a sierra with no wheels hubs transmission etc,

Last i heard scrappies were back doing free collections as the price of steel was so high, i believe its still the case.
Give your local scrappy (not breakers yard) a call and see what he says

Not to much of a problem. I used a guy that makes a living from taking scrap shells to the scrap yard, he removed it for free.. You might have to pay,
it all depends on the worth of the scrap.

When I'd finished stripping my Sierra, it was up on axle stands in my back yard. We have a telegraph pole next to the back gates, so no chance
of HIAB'ing it out. We borrowed a couple of pallets and pallet trucks from work, slid the pallets underneath and dropped the car down onto
them. Some swearing and dragging got it out into the lane, where the scrappy was waiting with his HIAB. He carefully dropped the HIAB arm down on
the roof, completely smashing it in (and all the windows!). Then he put a chain round the rest and lifted it onto his flat bed.
Gone in Sixty Seconds, my arse, more like 60 minutes!

Three times I have put a bodyshell at the bottom of my drive and it was picked up every time by the local scrap blokes. Once it just disappeared while
I was at work!.
Probably depends on where you live tho'.

Depends whereabouts you are. Down here in the sunny south 'they' will only take it for free if it still has wheels on or if it's
basically so new/good condition you shouldn't be scrapping it anyway. Costs about 40 quid for a guy with a hiab to take half a sierra away

I chopped mine up with an angle grinder and dropped the bits off at the local council tip. That way I managed to keep the V5 and chassis plates, etc.,
for getting an age-related plate when I (finally) build the kit.

Friday Ad, if you get it is a good place to look for free scrapping services. Local scrappy is a bit of a con, ring them on there normal number they
charge... ring them from the friday add number and they dont.
But anyway, check your local free paper for free vehicle collection services. Most use A frames around where I live so you need wheels but there is
one with that uses a flatbed.

Pretty much as I had to do. Same layout but the front of the drive. Thankfully I borrowed a dolly of someone (2 fixed wheels on end two turney type
ones the other on a nice bit of solid wood. Sort of like a 1mtr x 1mtr the bottom half of a shopping trolley only wider.
You could also try putting some plyboard under the car before dropping it off the axel stands then pumping up a trolly jack under the rear and
dragging it down the drive.

My Sierra donor was well and truly stripped of anything and everything. I had to pay £10 to have it taken to the scrappie. Sold many Sierra parts to
make some cash back on the build.

Just come home to find a note on my screen about my sierra, and someone asking if its going for scrap..!! And they'll pay..!
Result ! No cutting for me...
