How can I see that is a 7" or 7.5" differential

Hi,
I have done some search but probably the wrong words combination.

I wonder how I can distinguish the differences between a 7" and a 7.5" differentials.

I can see that the top long bolt reinforcing has at the 7.5" a totally cast surface and the 7" has a open, kind of slot.

The next question is:
Con some one tell me if this number [not on the sticky] is a 7" and the ratio?

83BG4025BE

It has the "lobro" flanges form the small picture that I can see on the net.

Next question:
The distance between the the surfaces of the top bolt support is 194 mm?????

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Cobra289 [Carlos]

Its not on the list of 7" Ford diffs i have so guess its a 7.5". Its the width of the mounting lug cast into the differential case anyway.

I am looking for a 7" diff with flanges for the lobros.
But I am concerned because at my chassis design I have take in account a distance of the 194 mm for the top mounting bolt.

Are the Scorpio's MK1 also 7"??

This measurement here isn't it?

Hi,
This what I have put in my design.
Is 308 mm correct for a 7" diff [distance between the flanges?

My son build can be seen here that has lots of pictures. [Sorry it is in Spanish]

I think that I have found some information.

This part number belongs to a
FORD SCORPIO MK1 (GGE) 2.9 i 4X4 BRE 2,9

Now knowing this, kan someone let me know more about the diff for those cars?

- Ratio
- Lobros [108 mm?]
- shafts length [509 mm long] [468 short]
- LSD????

Thanks for all the cooperation.

No I don't have 2 but the picture shows the differences which you describe in your first post.

If you take the back off the diff, the ratio is usually marked on the crownwheel.

Lots of chassis are designed to take a 7.5" or 7" diff. You just need to use some washers to take up the gap if you fit a 7".

Not sure if your info is correct - no 4x4 has a 7.5" diff.

Thanks Liam,
I take a note! put in the DOC information file.
I think that the guy is selling, has just take the casting number.
He will not respond my questions!

Any information of the length of the Sierra halve shafts?

Hi,

I may borrow for the chassis build-up a diff with the next information number:
85BB AA 362 4A 1A29 0693

362 = ratio
85BB AA = LSD

If I make a good brake-down of this information it should be a 7" diff with a 3.62 ratio and is a LSD [Viscous] that probably comes from a Cosworth 4x4

Can someone confirm??

Regards,
Cobra289
