Hi everyone, new to the Forum so please be gentle with me!
My Luego is overheating, I suspect the water pump but the radiator looks pretty crappy as well so to be safe I'm changing them both. Trouble is I
know what donor car the engine came from, Mark 2 Escort, so I can get a new water pump easily enoungh but the radiator certainly didn't come from
an Escort. It's about 51cm tall and about 43cm wide. The hot inlet is on the back of the radiator, top left (as looked at from the back), cool
outlet on the back bottom right. Any ideas what it may have come out of or suggestions for a replacement.
Cheers
make a picture.. to replace easyly...
anyway a polo is often suggested..

As above, there's a company on the Bay that does ally ones for about £30 or so. Best go with an early one which may also be listed as for a VW Derby
I was at the scrappies the other day and had a look at a VW Corrado (think it was just a 16v'er) and the radiator looked as though is would fit perfectly in the nose of a seven-type car.
I had a Golf rad on when crossflow-powered , since replaced with a Polo rad and a V6 (and never a cooling problem)

Also check radiator isnt blocked.
When engine is warm (thermostat open if its not faulty) then you should have warmth all over rad, that gets cooler towards the bottom.
If there is a cold spot then that might be the block.
Radiator could also be from a Nissan Micra, that's what I'm using.
Overheating could also be due to an airlock in the system. Crossflows can be a bit prone to this in a seven.

Thanks for the help guys.
It's not the thermostat as I took that out altogether when the overheating started (although it was stuck firmly shut). The water pump isn't
leaking but it's a cheap change anyway (£25 off Ebay brand new).
Rad looks old and scabby and no idea of it's history so I suspect that's the problem, I'll try and post a couple of pics of it
tomorrow.
Thanks again.
John
OK, a few pictures of the malfunctioning radiator
